PHIL ANSELMO * PANTERA
Blabbermouth.net has posted excerpts of an interview with former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo, which will appear in the February issue of "Revolver" magazine. (on newsstands dec.6)
Anselmo: "Man, this has been the worst year of my life it's been the worst year of many people's lives. Ever since... Ever since my guitar player was taken from me, basically."
Revolver: How much do you miss Dime?
Anselmo: "I miss him more than I can even begin to say. I think of him every single waking day every 30 minutes, if not every five minutes.
"And... [he pauses] Trying not to get choked up here. I'm trying to compose myself. I speak with Rex [Brown, PANTERA's bass player] often. We both are dealing with it... I'm in therapy. I never had to see a psychiatrist before. I see one regularly now. They tried to put me on antidepressants, but I won't take them because I don't trust drugs at all anymore. I don't trust a fucking pill, not unless it's a vitamin.
SONY XCP FOLLOW-UP STORY
Rollingstone.com has posted a follow-up article on the Sony BMG XCP scandal.
Sony BMG's war against music piracy backfired in spectacular fashion, as consumer fury over intrusive copy-protection software on the company's CDs has led to lawsuits alleging that the discs damaged users' computers and violated their privacy. The attorney general of Texas and consumer-advocacy group the Electronic Frontier Foundation each filed suits on November 21st; the EFF's complaint accuses Sony BMG of creating "serious security, privacy and consumer-protection problems," while the Texas suit invokes a state anti-spyware law to demand as much as $100,000 for each CD used in the state.
CHRIS CORNELL
Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell is suing his ex-wife and former Soundgarden manager Susan Silver for nearly $1 million. Here's an excerpt from tmz.aol.com:
Chris Cornell, lead singer of Audioslave, is suing his ex-wife, Susan Silver, alleging she conspired to divert money that belonged to Cornell to other Soundgarden band members. The lawsuit also claims that Silver held his library of music, lyrics and two Grammys hostage.
Cornell alleges Silver has a "desire to harm [him], which has apparently emanated at least in part from the dissolution of their personal relationship, and her incentive to further her career by maximizing the interests of other Soundgarden members." Cornell says Silver's actions were willful, intentional, malicious and despicable.
