3 FACED * PATRICK KENNISON

Former Union Underground guitarist Patrick Kennison has re-surfaced in the Los Angeles-based band 3 Faced and their 1st performance is tomorrow at The Gig in Hollywood, California.

The band features 3 different vocalists including Kennison, who also plays guitar along with San Antonio native Chase Jentz. The 3rd vocalist is a woman by the name of Jade Russell. Former Tommy Lee bassist Marty O'Brien and drummer Duncan Black round out the band.

The band's website has posted free MP3 demo versions of the songs:

BREAKING BENJAMIN

Breaking Benjamin's new album "We're Not Here Alone" was released yesterday and features the song "So Cold". This is the band's follow-up to "Saturate" and singer Ben Burnley says the success of their sophomore album is important.

BEN: "Usually the second record is pretty much do or die, because once you get in so deep, like financially-wise. Actually, a lot of bands don't even make it to the second record, but we were lucky. But it's definitely like, if you don't kind of break on the second one -- like from a business standpoint -- it's hard to keep going because you're just more and more in debt. But the label seems really behind this one."

The band spent months in a garage writing song for their new album and singer Ben Burnley says it is important to filter-out the songs that don't fit and concentrate on the best of the best.

BEN: "I think every musician in some way or form is a perfectionist, you know. And you've got to filter out... you've got to write a lot of stuff and then just filter out all of the best stuff out of it. So we were going through that process then of just writing it all in the garage. And then we moved and started pre-production, and that's when we started to filter out all of the best stuff."

SLIPKNOT

And here's another reason the people of France aren't worth my used toilet paper.

Slipknot headlined the last day of the Fury Fest this Sunday in Le Mans, France and here's a report from Olivier Rouhet of "Rock Hard France" magazine as sent to Blabbermouth.net:

"Headlining the last day of the Fury Fest Festival in Le Mans (France), SLIPKNOT had to endure the hostility of French so-called music 'fans'. Before going on stage, a majority of the audience (hardcore and black/death metal fans) organized themselves in order to sabotage the SLIPKNOT show. It started before the band went onstage with a non-stop 'SLIPKNOT, enculé' (Translation: SLIPKNOT, fuckers).

"When [drummer] Joey Jordison went on stage, the battle started: a large part of the audience started throwing anything [they could find] on stage (the security crew allowed bottles in the venue!). Pretending to defend the integrity of music, those so called 'fans' ruined the show. SLIPKNOT played 48 minutes (they were supposed to play 90) and it must be said that it's a very courageous move as any band would have left the stage after one song.

"The rumors provoking the furor was that SLIPKNOT had a very long soundcheck in the morning (this is true) but nobody can believe that this was a spontaneous move. The people there had planned to ruin the SLIPKNOT show: a real silly move. If you don't agree with SLIPKNOT, the best way is to leave the festival. By provoking violence, the fans have given France a bad name.

Slipknot guitarist Mick Thompson talked with "Metal Hammer" magazine about the show and had this to say:

THOMPSON: "You win some, you lose some. I don't care what all those metal elitists who hang out on messageboards think about Slipknot. You might think Slayer or Deicide rock more than we do, but at the end of the day I can count those guys as personal friends and when we're in town we hang out and go to dinner!"
