Cold frontman Scooter Ward says the band has called it quits citing poor album sales and a disappointing relationship with Atlantic Records.

GODSMACK

Godsmack leader Sully Erna describes the sound of their new album "IV", due April 25th.

ERNA: "It's still Godsmack. The cool thing is that I don't think that it's lost the integrity of what Godsmack has built a career of off as far as the toughness of the sound and that kind of thing. It's still there. It's still Godsmack and it's still tough. We've definitely expanded a little more. After a facelift and getting Shannon in the band, we started to spread our wings a little bit in the record and reintroduce guitar solos and stuff like that."

NINE INCH NAILS

Nine Inch Nails' guitarist Aaron North talked with the "The Republican" about joining the band and how he helped reinterpret the songs for the live show.

"Some of these songs have been played pretty much the same way for 10 years, so Trent wanted to move things around," North said. "So now he may play keyboards on a song he used to play guitar on or I may play a keyboard part on the guitar."

While North welcomed this challenge, it added to the workload when he joined the band. It meant that North not only had to learn 40 songs in a short period of time, but also come up with new parts for many of them.

"It was hard to put the creative hat on for that many songs and come up with my own parts, especially after hearing those songs a different way for years," he said.

Avenged Sevenfold's album "City of Evil" has been certified Gold by the RIAA for shipments of over 500,000 copies.
