Win It Before You Can Buy It
Stereomud is on the Jagermeister Music Tour coming to Sunset Station on March 22nd. As part of the Jagermeister Weekend (3/14-3/16) you can "Win It Before You Can Buy It" Stereomud's new album, Every Given Moment. Listen to 99.5 KISS to win!
Stereomud had audiences thrashing like mad during the scorching "Pain & Suffering" Tour and head-banging like lunatics during the group's blistering shows with Saliva, Systematic, Nonpoint, Sevendust and labelmates Crazy Town. Now these preeminent nü metal mavens have returned with a brand new album, Every Given Moment.
With Every Given Moment, featuring the riveting first single "Breathing," Stereomud re-emerge on the scene with the group's hardest hitting and most sophisticated music to-date. The album was produced by John Travis (Kid Rock, Zebrahead, Buckcherry) and mixed by Jack Joseph Puig (Black Crowes, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, Green Day, Hole).
Perfect Self, the debut Stereomud album, came out in May 2001 and has gone on to sell more than 145,000 units. The album hit #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers New Artist chart. "Pain," the first single from Perfect Self, reached #7 on the Active Rock chart, jumped to #8 on the Mainstream Rock chart, and moved to #29 on the Modern Rock chart.
Cathy Campagna, writing in Metal Edge (August 2001), raved about Perfect Self and Stereomud: "....they know the importance of aggression, melody, harmonies, meaty vocals and grooves that grip and do with you what they will.... Perfect Self distinguishes itself from the herd with real rock schooling, extenuated metal pronunciation and an honest emotional exclamation point."
Stereomud's next level of rock evolution comes not as an accident nor without great sacrifice. The inspiration for Stereomud struck when Corey--who'd gotten his first taste of the music business playing country-western covers with his father in down and dirty juke joints long before he was able to legally drink--was playing with Stuck Mojo while Dan Richardson and Joey Z. (an enthusiast of extreme bicycle sports since the age of 8, his specialty being the vertical ramp) were in Life of Agony. Both groups claimed respectable sales numbers, were well-covered in music mags, and enjoyed road jaunts with the likes of Ozzy, Pantera, Tool, Sevendust, and the Deftones. However, given various limitations, each band was stuck on its own plateau. Judgment Day was rushing toward the three musicians, and the difference between immediate comfort and long-term potential hung in the balance. Lesser artists would have chosen the former. Corey, Dan and Joey decided to create their own band.
Adding John Fattoruso on guitar, the inspired new alliance knew the key to their success lay in than finding nothing less than the perfect vocalist. The search began, and soon they found the perfect pipes nearly a thousand miles away in Atlanta where Corey's younger brother, Justin, was playing in a band with Erik Rogers. Eric had a reputation as a powerful vocalist throughout Georgia, and he had abundant pent-up frustration as a rock vocalist in a family of respected medical professionals. Needless to say, Erik was the perfect fit. Needing a name, the group settled on "Stereomud" at the suggestion of their friend, Billy Milano of S.O.D. (Storm troopers Of Death).
The members of Stereomud--who split their time between New York City and Atlanta--spent nearly a year working on music so that when they took their first bow, the quality of their songs would be undeniable. As expected, Stereomud was immediately embraced by rock fans, and the group was soon asked to perform on the live music television show "Farmclub.com." Stereomud soon became the first-ever rock signing to Loud Records, historically a hip-hop label.
Before and following the release of Perfect Self on May 22, 2001, Stereomud toured successfully with the likes of Crazy Town, Nonpoint, Saliva and Systematic. From May-July 2001, Stereomud headlined the "Pain & Suffering" Tour with Endo, Spike 1000 & Flybanger.
The band will hit the tour circuit once again in 2003 in support of Every Given Moment.
