 Creed Here's me and the Mrs. with Creed. They seemed pretty open and gave all KISS winners some good quality of time. Sometime bands of their magnitude will simply not be accommodating with pictures and autographs due to the volume of people who are trying to get a piece of them. These encounters can often end up with disappointment since it's hard to satisfy everybody's numerous requests. After the show I was summoned to Scott Stapp's bus for a private audience. Turns out he just wanted to talk about the business and my opinion of Creed's place in the current Rock radio landscape. If you've ever dreamed of such a moment let me clear one thing up...it's not what it's cracked up to be! Scott simply wouldn't shut up. At about 90-minutes into the conversation I wanted food, not more philosophical debate. Angie was practically snoozing in her seat. Actually I say he wouldn't shut up with a smile. It was nice to find out the stories I had heard about Scott being a prima-donna were simply not true. He talked glowingly about his son, sincerely about how he wishes he could give even more back to their fans, and openly about the band's desire to be taken seriously as a Rock band (they are what we in the Rock Radio bizz call "cross-over superstars" which sometimes isn't necessarily a flattering term.) In retrospect, this is one conversation I wish I could have had over the dinner table. Scott's a pretty real guy, and that's saying a lot considering how big of a star and sex symbol he really has become. |
