Atlanta, Georgia-based heavy rock act SEVENDUST will release its new album, "Cold Day Memory", on April 20

"Cold Day Memory" was recorded at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Illinois with producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, STAIND, MACHINE HEAD).

Prior to hooking up with Johnny K for the new album recording sessions, SEVENDUST spent time writing and recording demos with Corey Lowery (former member of DARK NEW DAY, STEREOMUD and STUCK MOJO and brother of SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery) engineering.

SEVENDUST released a very limited-edition box set in November 2008 entitled "Packaged Goods". Each five-disc set was personally autographed by the entire band. The box set included SEVENDUST's 2005 release "Next", 2007's "Alpha", 2007's "Retrospective 2" (CD + DVD), and 2008's "Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow".

SEVENDUST's last album, "Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow" (7Bros/Asylum), came out in April 2008. The CD sold 25,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to land at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Well, first of all, the state of my family affairs is really none of his business, since he is too immature to have a real relationship, let alone children. So don't attempt to stand in a man's shoes when you haven't walked his path. Secondly, 'keeping rock 'n' roll alive?' I've made many attempts to remain cordial with the members of VR, but mainly, the likes of you. Funny though â€" this is your FIRST band, as opposed to being a hired gun. I've been making records (now on my ninth), which have sold over 35 million copies worldwide and have maintained a level of professionalism regardless of how many drugs I've ingested into my system. I have only cancelled one tour during the entire course of my 16-year run and that was the 'make-up' Australia tour. Now, shall I open that can of worms, Matthew? Release the Kraken? Serve... Volley! You cancelled the Aussie tour in the fall because you went to rehab, but I won't say why... we'll just let Blabbermouth find out for themselves.

"As for our fans â€" I will sweat, bruise, and bleed for you. And will continue to do so until the end of this tour. However, you deserve to hear VELVET REVOLVER playing... not certain individuals singing along to get a muddied up sound. God forbid â€" could one imagine if I grabbed a guitar and started soloing along with Slash? That would never happen because I know my place. It's a shame... we were a gang. But ego and jealousy can get the better of anyone. I wish the best and plan to annihilate the stage in the last few shows.

"On a separate note, we did an STP [STONE TEMPLE PILOTS] photo shoot before this tour and it was fun, inspiring and it gave me that thrill â€" that feeling that got my rocks off from the get-go."

According to several fan accounts and online media reports, Scott Weiland stunned fans at last night's (Thursday, March 20) VR concert in Glasgow, Scotland, UK by dropping a huge hint the band's time may be up.

He told the sell-out crowd: "You're watching something special... the last tour by Velvet Revolver."

In an online posting from earlier today, Matt Sorum stated about the Glasgow concert, "So last night was interesting. Had a little band turmoil on stage, as you probably all could tell.

"Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don't get along. I guess there has been more turmoil lately, I guess, with the cancellations and all. It has been frustrating, I am not going to lie.

"My career and life in rock 'n' roll has come with its ups and downs. Unfortunately, some people in this business don't realize how great of a life they have. Touring the world, meeting great people and fans all over the world. And just playing music for a living. I feel truly blessed. But sometimes the road can be draining for some. Being away from home and family does grind on you sometimes. With all the travelling and different beds. Personally, I love this shit and sometimes can't believe I am so lucky to still be doing what I do for a living.

"Everybody could see who was unhappy last night, but all I can say is let's keep the rock alive, people!!!! In this life, you just pick up and keep moving. And don't ever let anybody stand in your way."

Weiland, who recently spent time in rehab at an undisclosed location, has struggled with substance abuse problems for more than a decade, although was reportedly clean for nearly four years until a few months ago. Questions about his condition flared in January when he missed a Velvet Revolver performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, claiming transportation problems.

Weiland will reunite with his STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bandmates for the first time this spring/summer for a number of shows, including an appearance at the Rock on the Range festival, to be held May 17-18 at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium.

Around 160 Metallica fans were arrested on Wednesday (March 10) after a riot outside the band's gig in Bogota, Colombia.

Hundreds of ticketless fans turned up to the US group's concert at Simón Bolívar Park and attempted to breach barriers, reports Sky News. 1,500 police officers were present outside the venue - tanks and police trucks were deployed, as the authorities had been expecting trouble.

A 45-minute riot ensued, during which four fans and four police officers were injured. One was treated for a knife wound.

Local police chief Ruben Castillo said: "The presence of police and riot teams was necessary because these misfits - there's no other name for them - damaged some windows in the surrounding area."

The Metallica gig was not disrupted.

It's an "Intimate Solo Acoustic Evening" with Aaron Lewis from Staind at The Majestic Theater tonight.

 With the news that the SMASHING PUMPKINS bassist Ginger Pooley has left the band to raise her new baby with her husband, Billy Corgan has announced that he will look for a new bassist in the same manner as he found new drummer Mike Byrne last year: via an open audition process (see below for details). Corgan also says that auditions will be held (again, see below) for a new keyboardist who is a fan of -- and can play in the prog-rock style of -- Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman.

Until a new bassist is found, Mark Tulin of THE ELECTRIC PRUNES -- with whom Billy toured last year in SPIRITS IN THE SKY -- will fill in on an interim basis.

Look for the PUMPKINS to soon announce a world tour, including dates in the U.S.

Says Ginger, who toured the world with the band in 2007 and 2008: "With sorrow and yet with much thankfulness for the opportunity to have played in the PUMPKINS, I am sad to say that I can no longer tour with the PUMPKINS.

"Although I've been blessed beyond belief over the past few years through playing with the PUMPKINS, my priority now is to keep our little family unit together, which includes my husband and my baby.

"Although I do plan on continuing to do music in different forms, my priority is for neither for my husband nor myself to be apart from our daughter so that we can raise her together.

Says Billy: "Although I am heartbroken that Ginger is leaving the group, I really respect her decision to put her family first. I appreciate everything that she has contributed to the SMASHING PUMPKINS, and I'm proud of her for being such a great musician and friend.

"We were lucky enough to find drummer Mike Byrne through an open audition process," Billy adds, "so why not open the doors again to anyone who might be interested for the bass or keyboard position.

Rolling Stone points out that original bassist Eric Avery has left Jane's Addiction. Avery made the announcement on his Twitter, writing, "thats it. with equal parts regret and relief, the janes addiction experiment is at an end." Frequently shirtless Jane's guitarist Dave Navarro confirmed the departure on his own Twitter: "Yes, Eric Avery has left the band. More to come but we wish him all the best!"

Jane's broke up for the first time in 1991, and Avery was the only member who didn't participate in the 2003 reunion album Strays or in their various pre-2008 reunion tours. When he finally rejoined in 2008, Avery made the original Jane's lineup whole again. Onstage at last year's Lollapalooza, though, Avery didn't exactly look amped to be there. His low-key stage attire (Danzig shirt!) stood out pretty far from his bandmates' circus-glam getups.

Rolling Stone speculates that Jane's may already have another bassist on board: Former Guns N' Roses  and Velvet Revolver member Duff McKagan. -pitchfork.com

WE ARE THE FALLEN -- the new band featuring original EVANESCENCE members Ben Moody (guitar) and John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums) along with American Idol  powerhouse vocalist Carly Smithson -- will release its debut album, "Tear The World Down", on May 11 via Universal Republic Records. The group's first single, "Bury Me Alive", was made available exclusively via the digital domain in early February. A second track, "Without You", is currently being streamed on the band's official website..

Mudvayne are the latest band to drum-up publicity by producing a controversial video that was guaranteed to be banned by major video outlets. Here is the official announcement about the ban: Mudvayne continues to push the envelope with the video for their second single "Beautiful and Strange" off their self-titled album Mudvayne. "Beautiful and Strange" is directed by Frankie Nasso and is the latest installment of three conceptually linked videos that were filmed to promote the band's self-titled album. "Scream With Me", the first single off the album saw great success becoming #2 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Chart.

With the release of the video for "Beautiful and Strange" came the unwillingness of networks, and media sources to play the video due to its disturbing and thought provoking imagery that is meant for mature audiences. The video contains sexually explicit acts that take place in a graveyard and some scenes that involve acts of sadism that is part of a storyline that is linked to the other two videos. The exact definition of the video is left to interpretation and flows beautifully with the other two videos that complete the concept. It has been banned from every outlet except for one; the only place where this video can be seen is on the social networking site vampirefreaks.com.

Mudvayne has been praised for changing the landscape of metal music through their songwriting and now they continue to broaden that landscape with their provocative new video for "Beautiful and Strange". The song is extremely dynamic and is an example of the bands technical abilities as musicians. "By The Sword", the first single from legendary guitarist Slash's (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash", will go for radio adds on March 15 (postponed from the previously announced March 1). The track was co-written by and features a guest appearance by Andrew Stockdale of the Australian retro-rock combo WOLFMOTHER.

'By The Sword' is a favorite of mine off the album," Slash tells Spinner. "I really enjoyed meeting and working with Andrew Stockdale. It was a solid collaborative effort and his voice is fantastic."

"Slash" will be released in North America in April via EMI Label Services and in the U.K. on May 10 through Roadrunner Records. The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians, including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmister, Adam Levine of MAROON 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Stockdale.

"Slash" was produced by Eric Valentine (QUEENS OF STONE AGE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS) and was completed with the rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and drummer Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.

"The idea was really simple in the beginning," said Slash. "These are all artists I wanted to work with -- that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs."

In a brand new concept in record distribution the standard album release will be preceded by a "fan pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly-collectable special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. According to The Pulse of Radio, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS unveiled the new CD at a private listening party on Tuesday night (February 23) in New York City. The entire band was in attendance at the event, with The Pulse of Radio's reporter on the scene saying that singer Scott Weiland "looked the best he's looked in a long time." All 12 tracks from the album were aired, with The Pulse of Radio reporter calling the record "a natural, melodic progression for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, with BEATLES-esque harmonies, a lot of in-your-face, hard-rocking tracks, plenty of guitar solos and some astounding singing from Weiland."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunited in 2008 after a six-year layoff. The band's last album, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001.

The PILOTS will also tour throughout the spring and summer, with Weiland hinting in a recent interview that the band might mount its own festival.

The disc will be issued through Atlantic Records, although Weiland told The Pulse of Radio at the time of the band's 2008 reunion tour that he was interested in exploring other options outside the traditional music industry. "When we first talked about putting STP back together, it was do this tour and then see about doing a creative deal with another company, like an all-in deal," he said. "And, you know, if you look at even like RADIOHEAD and a handful of other bands, they make more money doing things in an unconventional fashion as opposed to doing it, you know, with the major labels."
