Tonight the Trans-Siberian Orchestra descends on The Alamo City. Get ready for another night of memorable music, lights, and magic.
Conceived by music producer Paul O'Neill in 1996, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is based on collaborative productions with Aerosmith, the Scorpions, Humble Pie, and Savatage, a power-metal band formed at the Tarpon Springs, Florida Astro Skate in 1978.
At first the members of Savatage weren't thrilled with the concept of helping raise O'Neill's heavy-metal-meets-classical brainchild; but once the cash started rolling in, no one had a problem with it. The name is taken from the Trans Siberian Railroad, a network of railways connecting Russia, China, and Japan. Taking cues from the train's route, O'Neill designed a rock opera-style production employing a rave-worthy light show, pyrotechnics, and yes, holiday music performed by former metalheads. -sacurrent.com
