The Pulse of Radio reports: Rob Zombie's adult-oriented animated film, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto", will be released on DVD on September 22, according to Bloody-Disgusting.com. The movie is based on a story Zombie created for his Spookshow International comic book series of a few years back and centers on a washed-up wrestler battling various creatures on the road in Monsterland. Actors who lent their voices to the movie include Paul Giamatti, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley and Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie.
Zombie warned The Pulse of Radio a while back that "El Superbeasto" is definitely not a cartoon you'd put on to watch with the kids. "There's never even been a movie like this before," he said. " I don't think anyone's ever put so much money into making such a filthy cartoon. It's just the most X-rated thing. You know, it's a comedy, but it's really filthy. People always go, 'Oh, is it like 'Fritz The Cat' or'Heavy Metal'?' I'm always like, 'It's so far beyond that, in that department.'"
"El Superbeasto" will arrive on DVD less than a month after the theatrical release of Zombie's fourth live-action film as a screenwriter and director, "Halloween 2".
The sequel to Zombie's 2007 remake of the 1978 horror classic comes out on August 28, almost exactly two years after "Halloween". That movie earned $60 million at the box office, Zombie's biggest film to date.
Zombie also recently completed work on his fourth solo studio album, although a release date and title have yet to be announced.
