Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has told Spin magazine that the band will release a new album in early 2010. In a new interview on his current solo tour, Weiland revealed that guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo have begun writing music, explaining, "Those guys have already been writing the instrumental music ... with STP, Robert, and Dean write the chords and riffs and then they bring stuff to me." Asked if he had heard any finished songs yet, Weiland added, "No, except for the stuff we jammed at sound check. And some of that was really cool ... So when I'm finished doing my thing, I'll hear what kind of ideas they have. And in the spring we'll be ready to record."

Weiland said that the album, STP's sixth studio effort and first since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", will arrive early next year.

He did not address a recent lawsuit filed against him and STP drummer Eric Kretz by the band's label, Atlantic Records, for breach of contract, nor did he reiterate his recently stated desire to record outside the major label system.

STP reunited last year for a six-month tour that ended in late October. Since then Weiland has been touring behind his second solo album, "Happy In Galoshes", which came out in November.  -ultimate-guitar.com

For the first time since 2007, Rob Zombie will embark on a headlining tour, this time in support of his forthcoming solo set, "The Hellbilly Deluxe 2."

The Grammy-nominated rocker will hit the road beginning Oct. 29 in Phoenix, followed by club and theater shows in 19 cities. The outing works its way from the West Coast to the East, wrapping up Dec. 5 in Washington, DC. A special Halloween (10/31) performance in Hollywood is also on the books. Details are shown below.

Zombie's longtime bandmates--guitarist John 5, bassist Piggy D and drummer Tommy Clufetos--will join him on the trek, as will Nekromantix and Captain Clegg & the Night Creature, who will open all shows.

"The Hellbilly Deluxe 2," which hits shelves Nov. 10, is a companion album to the 1998 release, "The Hellbilly Deluxe." "Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool" is the new set's full official title.

"I'm bouncing off the walls like a mental patient," Zombie said in a press release. "That tells me it's time to take it to the stage and let the demons loose."

Zombie most recently released "Educated Horses," his third solo album, in 2006. Since that time, the former White Zombie frontman has written, directed and produced horror films, including the 2007 remake of the 1978 classic "Halloween" and it's sequel, "Halloween II," which hit the silver screen last month.

Resurrected rock band Stone Temple Pilots cements its reunion with another round of U.S. tour dates for the fast-approaching fall and winter months. The first leg of the tour is a 12-date, one-month venture that launches October 2 at Bayfest in Mobile, AL.

Through the month of October, STP will hit major markets on both coasts of the U.S. on the run, which is currently set to wrap on October 23 at Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, NV. Some of the other scheduled stops are October 6 at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, SC, and October 20 at Fox Theater in Oakland, CA.

At this point, the "winter" stretch of the itinerary bears just two concert dates. Those shows are slated for December 29 at Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, MS, and January 1 at Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, OK. It is unclear how many additional tour legs or performances are planned for the 2009-2010 venture.

Presales are currently open for a handful of STP's early October shows, but are restricted to members of the band's official fan club. The first public onsales began August 28, on Ticketmaster.com.

Returning to the concert market for the first time since officially splitting in 2003, STP launched a massive reunion tour that spanned six months of 2008. The venture was originally scheduled from mid-May through the end of August, but was eventually extended through September and October for a total of more than 70 shows.

After completing the stint with his band, STP frontman Scott Weiland launched a series of solo concerts to promote his latest independent work, "Happy in Galoshes." STP hasn't released a studio record since 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da," though a new album is reportedly in the works and slated for release in late 2009.

"We have a few shows lined up with STP, we'll finish the record and then we'll be out doing our thing, touring for awhile once the record comes out," Weiland told artist direct in a June interview. "It'll probably be a Christmas release."- ticketsnow.com

Living Colour frontman Corey Glover was recently interviewed about the band's upcoming CD, The Chair in the Doorway, due Sept 15 from Megaforce Records. Here is an excerpt or two:

On the very familiar chord progression of first single "Behind the Sun"

I hear the U2 sort of thing going on [in 'Behind the Sun']. I was surfing on the internet and there's this thing called [The Axis of Awesome's] 4 Chords. You could name 65 songs with that same chord progression [as 'Behind the Sun'] completely by accident. There's a U2 song, there's a Journey song there, there's a Beatles song, there's a couple of tunes that have the same chord progression and it's completely accidental.

On re-recording "Cult of Personality" for 2007's Guitar Hero III: Legend of Rock

We recorded it and sent it to [Vivid producer] Ed Stasium, which is kind of why it sounds so similar [to the original]. I play the game sometimes and it's weird to hear it because I'm amazed that I still sound the same. What's very different about it is the guitar solo that's actually harder to play than the original!

On the band's North American tour, which launches Sept. 1 in Alexandria, VA

We haven't played in the States in a very long time. Let's face it, our audience is older. And those people who are coming to this for the first time are going to be very different than they were the last time we played there. So we're going to have do a real balancing act as to what people remember and what new stuff they want to hear in re-introducing ourselves to the audience.

We're primarily a live band. A recording is just a moment in time. If you want to see how it evolved and where it went and where it is going, come see us live. And then go home, listen to the record and hear how it's changed. And know that we're going to come back and it's going to change from there. -metalmixtape.com

Platinum-selling Rock band Saving Abel will headline the inaugural "CLASS OF 2009" TOUR, with Red, Pop Evil and Taddy Porter along for the ride. The excursion will get underway on October 27th in San Antonio, TX and continue until the end of the year. The first leg of dates will go on sale the weekend of August 28th, with additional blocks of performances to be announced shortly.

The concept behind this new annual tour is to bring together rock artists who have achieved substantial TOP TEN hits at radio in the current calendar year. Each year, an unsigned band, a.k.a. "The Freshman," will be selected to open the show for the full tour, providing an opportunity that is nothing short of a launching pad. Each of the acts on the inaugural run outside of Taddy Porter (this year's "Freshman") is riding major airplay at radio, and could be touring as a headliner on their own. The submission process outlining eligibility for consideration to be "The Freshman" for the "CLASS OF 2010" tour will be unveiled soon.

Headliner Saving Abel is the first act in over three years to have three top five rock hits off their debut release. The band's debut singles" Addicted," "18 Days," and "Drowning (Face Down)" have delivered a massive fan base for the Corinth, MS. quintet. Saving Abel's biggest hit "Addicted," was a #1 rock hit, crossed over to peak at #7 on Billboard's Top 40 Airplay Chart and also sold over a million downloads. Both RED and Pop Evil have had hits in the Top 10 this year and are quickly becoming staples at rock radio as well.

Saving Abel guitarist Jason Null offered, "I love the idea of this tour. Not only do we get to tour with some of the other hit makers of 2009, we also get a chance to help break a new artist. This is a great line-up that our fans and rock fans in general are going to be way into. We can't wait to get out there."

The concept behind the "CLASS OF" tours is the collective brainchild of Rick Smith, Scott Frazier and Larry Mestel as their first project for Primary Wave Music Management along with booking agent Justin Hirschman from Artist Group International. Future tours in the coming years will be staged, with the intent to see the concept grow exponentially in terms of the number of bands, venue sizes, and attendees. As the years pass, the moniker will change annually reflecting the year the excursion hits the road.

Primary Wave Music Management partner Rick Smith offered, "The fans across the country continue to support rock music. It is increasingly harder to break a new band. Our plan is to provide a stage for new bands to play in front of large audiences." Scott Frazier added," I laugh when I hear industry people say there's nothing new and good to sign. I live where the audience lives and this tour is for them."

This upcoming semester should be like no other... Class is in Session.
The itinerary for the first leg of the CLASS OF 2009 tour is:

Hard rock mavens Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle and Halestorm will be teaming up this summer for the "Stimulate This!" tour, a four-band bill designed to offer fans maximum value at a minimal price.

Making its way across the U.S. beginning July 1 and extending through early September, the "Stimulate This!" tour will hit more than 40 U.S. markets, including some of the hardest hit by the recession. In a show of solidarity for their fans, the four bands have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers. Through their collective efforts, they've been able to maintain modest base ticket prices that remain mostly under $40 each - half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages - with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10. Additionally, each tour stop will include special promotions for ticket holders that will vary from market to market, but could include discounts on concessions at the venue during the show, store discounts at local retailers, and online rebates for band merchandise to name a few.

"Wall Street got its bailout; now it's time for rock fans to get theirs," said Staind frontman Aaron Lewis. "This summer, we want to give our fans one night where they can forget about everything else and experience a great rock show."

"We've always said that we, as a band, only answer to one boss...and that's everyone in the audience," offers Shinedown's Brent Smith. "It's our job...our privilege to offer our fans an escape. Teaming up with these other great bands, we're doing what we can to help lift everyone's spirits in these tough times...the power of music can do that."
